Knowing I had little time when stopping by the Tyler Rose Garden, I limited my time to the Sensory Garden where I took this picture of a Buckeye Butterfly enjoying pollinating the colorful Dahlias. I enjoy the challenge of capturing butterflies and was pleased to get this shot.

We live a stone’s throw from Lake Sam Rayburn and I could tell it would be a great evening to take a few pictures. I love this area — so quiet, just the sound of the water lapping on the shore.

The photo was taken shortly after 6 a.m. at my sister and brother-in-law's farm off San Augustine Hwy (Hwy 96 South) outside of Center, Texas. My sister walked by the front door, looking out toward the barn, and commented on the beautiful colors of the sunrise. We both snapped iPhone pics of the scene.

"The cold air nipped at my fingers as I came around the corner. Frozen in time, this Great Blue Heron stood its ground. I knew it would be only moments and this beautiful encounter would leap into the air and fade in the distance. A moment in time, captured, forever." (Taken at Sulphur Springs' Coleman Park)

This particular sunset made me stop and catch my breath. There are plenty of beautiful sunrises and sunsets here [The Villages Marina on Lake Palestine], but this one took my breath away for some reason. I was having a stressful day, ... and this was just what I needed to relax and regroup.
