Ring in the New Year with a Festive Historic Train Ride

Blast into the New Year aboard the Rail of Lights New Year's Train in Jefferson, Texas.  The unforgettable ride on a live steam train runs on December 31, New Year's Eve.  Trains depart at 8, 9, and 11:30 pm. Passengers will enjoy lighted scenes along the Big Cypress Bayou as they hear the tale of New Year's traditions and customs.

The patrons will receive beverages, hats, and noisemakers at the depot. Each train will include a simulation of the New Year's Eve Ball dropping in Times Square, followed by a fantastic fireworks show, complete with a cannon firing dramatic "dragon's breath."

Hear about the unique New Year's customs around the world, including stories of the Good Luck Dragon in Oriental, North Carolina; Christmas Markets in Austria; Kip's Toyland in Los Angeles; and "Happy New Year, Charlie Brown."

Steam hissing, whistle blowing, and pistons chugging, the Historic Jefferson Railway's live steam train returns to operation this holiday season. The beautiful enclosed first class car offers a warmer experience while the open-canopied observation coach cars provide an excellent view of the ride along the river. If you are riding Coach Class, be sure to dress warmly and bring a blanket.

First class tickets are $20 plus tax per person. Coach class is $15 plus tax per person with lap children under 4 are free. Seats are limited, so purchase your tickets early.
