Springtime Events at Texas State Railroad
The Texas State Railroad is ready to kick off its 2019 excursions with the springtime beauty of the East Texas Piney Woods and fun events for the entire family. Climb aboard one of the vintage train engines and enjoy one of the unique experiences they have planned.
First, the Dogwood Days Brunch Train departs at 1 p.m. March 24 from the Palestine depot. Passengers on this special ride will savor a delicious three-course meal and have a front row seat to the Dogwood Days springtime show.
This part of Texas offers beautiful white and pink dogwood blooms outside the train’s large windows, and you can witness this beautiful view of nature on their train rides throughout late March and early April.
April 13 and 20 are the dates to join if you want to hop on board with the Easter Bunny! This very special guest is egg’cited to see all the children and families join in for the Easter Egg Express. Kids can roam the grassy hills in search of colorful eggs filled with candy and prizes and get a great photo taken with the big bunny himself. A variety of food and drink specialties will be available for purchase. These popular trains fill quickly, so reservations are recommended.
Steam week is when the big machines of Texas State Railroad’s early days are on display at the Palestine depot. Memorial Day weekend, May 24-26, is when you get this amazing opportunity to witness the notable historic steam and diesel engines and capture photos. The property will be open to guests at 8 a.m., and the train will depart the Palestine depot at 11 a.m.
