One-of-a-Kind Festival Set for McKinney
Get in on the inaugural Yellow Wood Music & Outdoors Festival in McKinney from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 26.
The festival is being organized in partnership with the veteran non-profit organization The Warrior’s Keep and will feature a Race to Brunch 5k to kick-start the festivities which will all take place at Myers Park and Event Center. The day’s schedule is full of recreation classes and activities, six bands, a play zone, overnight camping, an artisan village, a family-friendly movie night, plenty of great food and beverages, and the Barnyard Party presented by Trinity Falls.
“The Warrior's Keep is thrilled to be partnered with the Yellow Wood Festival and honored to be able to celebrate Memorial Day weekend together,” said Warrior’s Keep co-founder John Cody Hardin. “With our organization's mission to increase quality of life for veterans by engaging in outdoor recreational adventures and this festival promoting outdoor recreation, we truly are a perfect fit together.”
The recreation classes and activities feature a variety of fun including goat yoga, mixology classes, fire starting, first aid-survival, cooking classes, flower pressing, a wild edibles walk, plus 15 others.
“We’ve created an event that is truly a one of a kind experience,” said event organizer Lauren Stephan. “With so many fun activities happening in McKinney over Memorial Day weekend, it’s the perfect time for DFW residents to have a staycation in McKinney.”
Admission to the family-friendly festival is free and open to the public. The Race to Brunch 5K tickets cost $25 and include a chip-timed race, event t-shirts and medals. A variety of delicious brunch cuisine and cocktails will be available at the finish line. The 5K will kick off at 9 a.m. and a portion of the proceeds benefit The Warrior’s Keep.
