Run in the Annual Gobble Wobble for a Good Cause
Newgate Mission’s popular Gobble Wobble Fun Run is set for Saturday, November 17, 7:30 to 11 a.m., on Paul G. Boorman Trail in Longview, Texas. The event offers runners and walkers distances of one mile, 5K, and 10K.
This is the 14th year for the popular Gobble Wobble, Newgate Mission’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds support efforts to provide food, clothing, spiritual, and social services for the area’s homeless, low-income, and marginalized populations.
“Gobble Wobble is a fun way to be a part of the incredible work Newgate Mission does for our community. We are so appreciative of all of our race participants, from our first-timers to our loyal 'Gobble Wobblers,' says Kristi Bogle-Sherman, Gobble Wobble chair & Newgate Mission board of directors' vice president.
Registration is free at www.NewgateMission.org/Gobble-Wobble or on site the day of the race. Donations are also gladly accepted. People who prefer snoozing instead of running can become a Sleep-In Supporter at the same web address.
Race day check-in is at 7:30 a.m., and the race starts at 9 a.m., at the entrance of the Boorman Trail at 410 W. Loop 281. Parking is available at Austin Bank, and food trucks will also be on hand.
“Each year, we continue to be amazed by the growing number of walkers and runners, and of course, our wonderful sponsors. We invite everyone in East Texas to come and join us for fun and fellowship as we raise awareness of and support for Newgate Mission,” says Hollie Bruce, executive director.
Again this year, the Gobble Wobble Silent Auction will feature special treasures, such as jewelry, clothing, art, wood works, photography, event tickets, beauty treatments, a golf package, and fine dining. Silent auction items can be accepted through Wednesday, November 14.
Sponsorships are open through Thursday, November 8. To learn more about Gobble Wobble sponsorships, call (903) 757-6146 or email Director@NewgateMission.org. To make an online donation, visit www.NewgateMission.org/Donate. Cash and check donations will also be accepted on race day.
