Art of Peace Welcomes Romana Dumanska




With activities for Art of Peace in full swing in Tyler this week, a special surprise guest is now scheduled for the Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony tomorrow in Bergfeld Park.  Russian ballerina Romana Dumanska will perform a short ballet piece, "Dove of Peace" during the ceremony that commemorates the United Nations International Day of Peace. "Dove of Peace" choreography is from the Great Russian Nutcracker and portrays Moscow Ballet's dedication to world peace. The Peace Pole Ceremony also features Art of Peace organizers, city officials, international college students and the Hogg Middle School choir.

The ceremony begins at Noon, with the ballet performance taking place at 12:15 p.m. Guests are invited to bring their lunches at 11 a.m. for a Peace Picnic in the park.

Dumanska is on her first tour in North America with the Moscow Ballet this year. She wone First Place at the International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition in Italy and was a finalist in 2015 and 2016 at the Grand Prix International Ballet Competition in Kiev.
