Caddo Parish Welcomes Tour Participants

The Ruben V. Glassell Home, located at 304 Caddo Street in Belcher, was built in 1899 by Ruben V. Glassell with a center hall in dogtrot style.

Other historic stops along the Heritage and Harvest Tour will include Belcher Presbyterian Church (508 Gray Street along Hwy. 3049, Belcher); Belcher Veterans Memorial (Gray Street along Hwy. 3049, Belcher); D&I Store (312 Caddo Street, Belcher); Lynn Plantation Commissary (11569 Highway 3049, Belcher); Main Street Restaurant (12807 Main Street, Gilliam); Red River Crossroads Museum (12797 Main Street, Gilliam), Gilliam Gin Company (Highway 3049 South, Gilliam); Old Hosston School (14905 Oak Street, Hosston); Big Mama’s Antiques and Restorations (6403 Parkway Drive, Hosston); and Designs by Carol Quilt Shop (Hwy 71 North, Mira).

In addition to historic tours, the 2018 Heritage and Harvest Tour will offer interactive presentations and lunch at businesses, churches and attractions along the route. The Red River Crossroads Museum will feature a locally grown cotton exhibit from Upriver Cotton Company. The Belcher Presbyterian Church will offer a book restoration demonstration presented by James Jackson from 11 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a fish lunch and an afternoon of shopping at local vendors, as well as a piano performance by Bright Corner Inspiration at the Old Hosston School at 1:30 p.m.
