Celebrate Oktoberfest in Crockett

It’s that time again … OktoberFest! in Crockett, Texas, is always a great way to usher in the fall seasion.

Crockett's annual event features, back by popular demand, the polka-on-steroids musical group Brave Combo. The Denton-based group takes the stage at 7 p.m. October 6, at the Houston County Airport.

Come join the fun for authentic Czech food and beer, and dance to America’s favorite polka dance band. Presented by the Piney Woods Fine Arts Association, this family-friendly event is fun for all ages and kids under 18 get in free. Tickets are $27. Purchase tickets online at www.pwfaa.org or by calling (936) 544-4276.

This event is back due to the overwhelming response from last year’s festival and is a good time for all. Brave Combo is a legendary polka band with a unique sound. They have been nominated for a Grammy award seven times and have won twice. Trying to describe Brave Combo’s music requires an extensive vocabulary – at least when it comes to musical styles. For the past three decades the quintet has perfected a world music mix that includes salsa, meringue, rock, cumbia, conjunto, polka, zydeco, classical, cha cha, the blues and more.

OktoberFest! with Brave Combo is funded in part by a grant from The Texas Commission on the Arts and sponsored by Cutshaw Chevrolet and Crockett Insurance Service.

Doors open at 6 p.m. No outside food or drinks are allowed.
