Caddo Lake

Located near Uncertain, Texas, and split by the Texas/Louisiana border, it is the largest natural lake in the south, but there are mixed theories about how it was formed. Caddo Indian legend states the lake was formed by a giant flood, but another theory states that an earthquake was the cause. However it came to be, this internationally protected wetland begs to be visited and explored. Hiking and nature studies are popular family activities. Photographers delight in the unusual appearance of the aquatic plants and wildlife. To stay on Caddo Lake, bring an RV, camp in a tent, or stay in the log cabins constructed by the Civilian Corps.
