Margaritas have long been known as refreshing summer drinks.  Their light, fruity nature makes the perfect answer to the heat.  Watermelon and ginger are great compliments to one another for a different twist to margaritas.

With no added sugar or syrup, this margarita is naturally sweet saving you from a headache the next day.  Make up a batch for your next backyard BBQ.

1 cup crushed ice

½ cup peeled, cubed watermelon

2 ounces gold tequila

1 ounce lime juice

1 ounce orange liquor (Cointreau or Triple Sec)

¼ teaspoon minced, fresh ginger

In a blender, combine ice, watermelon, tequila, lime, liquor, and ginger. Blend at a high speed until smooth.

Run a wedge of lime around the edge of a margarita glass to moisten the rim.  Spread about 1 Tablespoon of salt on a plate and dip the glass in the salt.

Pour the blended margarita into the prepared glass and garnish with a watermelon wedge, or crystallized ginger.
