Mineola Bakery Wins Cupcake Wars

Dawn Trammel, and her daughter Rachel Pantusa, of The Luscious Crumb in Mineola are the latest winners of the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars.”

Their show, the season finale, aired June 30 and awarded them a $10,000 prize  and a catering opportunity for an 80’s-themed party in Los Angeles for the platinum recording star Taylor Dayne, who recorded hits such as “Tell It To My Heart” and “Every Beat of my Heart.”

The Luscious Crumb is a County Line Magazine 2012 Best of the Upper East Side of Texas winner. It is operated by Trammel and her daughters Rachel and Heather. The on-air contest was challenging.

“It was the most grueling competition we have ever been involved with,” Dawn said.  “The clock is real and only the best bakers in the country are asked to participate.”

The Luscious Crumb is one of only eight Texas bakeries ever featured on the show and only the second from Texas to win the competition.

The bakery’s four winning cupcake flavors are Death by Chocolate, Orange Crush, Salted Caramel Peanut Butter and Cocunut Cream. They are now featured as fan favorites along with about 100 other alternating flavors.
