Unique Style of Emily Elbert on Stage Friday
Internationally touring singer-songwriter and guitarist Emily Elbert will perform at Los
Pinos Ranch Vineyards on Friday, February 23. Anchored by what L.A. Weekly calls a "smartly funky groove" with "jazzy guitar chords and sly words in artful arrangements," Elbert’s original music weaves together a soul-folk blend of introspection and celebration.
She strives to honor the progressive spirit of musical heroes like Stevie Wonder, Joni
Mitchell, Marvin Gaye, and Jimi Hendrix. Montana’s Crown of the Continent Guitar Festival wrote about Emily, “Pouring her heart and soul into her songs, we’re not sure which is more impressive, her humble spirit or her unbelievable talent.”
Now a resident of Los Angeles, the Coppell, Texas, native graduated from Berklee
College of Music in Boston and has carried her music around the world, playing over a thousand independent shows, from Barcelona to Bangkok and from Peru to Palestine. Her songs have garnered praise from publications like The Washington Post, Utne Reader, and Glamour Magazine, and won awards in the U.S. and U.K.
Solo, Emily has had the privilege of opening for acts including Leon Russell, Victor
Wooten, G. Love & Special Sauce, Richie Havens, Tuck & Patti, and many others. Emily has also contributed her voice and guitar to projects ranging from local bands to Grammy-winning international acts. She spent a year touring as a member of Esperanza Spalding’s experimental music and theater project, and played shows ranging from the Late Show with Stephen Colbert to the Sydney Opera House. She also lent her vocals to Dweezil Zappa’s latest record, Via Zammata, co-wrote Bruno Major's viral hit "Easily," and has been a featured guest in the band of Phish’s Mike Gordon.
