Bus Tour Explores Texarkana's Link to Music History

Texarkana continues to discover its contributions to music, and the general public can now also discover it thanks to two guided information bus tours.

The tours are set for Saturday, January 12, at both 1 and 3 p.m. The tours are hosted by and originate at Museum of Regional History, 219 North State Line Avenue.

The Musical Highlights Bus Tour will feature some of the honky tonkin', jazz playin' and boogie woogien' highlights that the city has produced. Texarkana is the home town of a variety of important figures in American music history. From "Father of Ragtime," Scott Joplin, to the legendary Otis Williams, Texarkana has produced some of the music industry's biggest stars. Tour guides will take participants on a drive through the areas where these important music makers lived and performed.

Guests will board the tour bus at the Museum of Regional History, 219 North State Line Avenue in historic downtown Texarkana. Two tour are available -- one at 1 p.m. and one at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the Museum of Regional History.

Reserve your seat now. Tickets are $15 per person. Tickets can be purchased at www.texarkanamuseums.org. For more information or directions, call the Museum of Regional History at (903) 793-4831.
