Not only is Selena Gomez an actress, singer, and television show producer, she is also a native Texan from Grand Prairie, just west of Dallas. Born July 22, 1992, she was just seven years old when she landed her first acting job on the hit children's television show, Barney and Friends.
Gomez had a hand full of smaller roles in various movies and television shows. In 2007 she and her mother moved to Los Angeles where she started receiving much larger roles, including Disney’s hit show Wizards of Waverly Place, in which she played main character Alex Russo.
Two short years later, Gomez released her first album titled Selena Gomez & The Scene. She now has four solo albums, and writes songs for the Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why, for which she is also an executive producer.

Even though Selena Gomez's fame grows bigger and bigger everyday, she recently shared on Instagram – to her 138 million followers – a photo of her sitting on the porch steps of her childhood home with the caption, "The home I grew up in, from birth to 13. (No one was home when I knocked this time, LOL). I visit this place every chance I get. In many ways it very well could have been better than my life today, but I'm grateful for a voice that can enable change today. Even when I don't know how to do it well or actually want it. I love you Grand Prairie. Thank you."
It’s good to know she hasn’t forgotten her roots.
