Best Places to Experience Art

Everybody loves a good place to see and experience art. The collection is a visual feast. The lighting is ideal. The space is inviting. A recent reader poll conducted by County Line Magazine identified top art venues that all art lovers will want to check out.

Sparrow’s Gallery, Denison. “Real art for real people” is how Sparrow’s Gallery describes itself. The gallery’s trifold mission is to connect fine art from emerging and established artists with emerging and established collectors, while sharing part of the proceeds with the local charitable community. The gallery features a wide variety of artists from North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. 124 Wet Main Street. 903.337.0708.

Longview Museum of Art. The museum hosts exhibits about six times a year and displays a permanent collection as well with more than 700 paintings, etchings, woodcuts, photographs, works on paper, lithographs, and pieces of sculpture. Works from contemporary regional artists (Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana) are the primary sources for the collection. Their long-standing mission to create interest in and promote knowledge of the visual arts is commendable. 215 East Tyler Street. 903.753.8103.

Past winners are Michelson Museum of Art, Marshall, and Tyler Museum of Art.
