Four-State Student Art Show Announced

The Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council (TRAHC) present's the Annual Student Juried Exhibition Saturday, May 26, at the Regional Arts Center in downtown Texarkana. The Student Juried Exhibition has been a part of TRAHC's regional art shows for 26 years and features art from elementary, middle, and high school students in the four-state area.

The art exhibit will be open to the public through July 7. The Regional Arts Center is at 321 4th Street, Texarkana, Texas.

TRAHC invites students to participate in the competition.  The deadline for submissions is May 12 at 3:45 p.m. Teachers/Parents should deliver artwork to the Regional Arts Center on or before that date. For additional information and submission guidelines, entry criteria, entry registration forms, entry inventories, and artwork label forms, visit

The opening reception is set for Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at the Regional Arts Center. Award winners will be announced at 11:45 a.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to middle and high school students who receive top honors for their work.

There will also be two honorable mention awards, two merit awards, and a people’s choice award for each category. People’s choice award voting will take place from 10 to 11:15 a.m. In addition, one exhibiting student from each division will be randomly selected to win an art supply gift bag.

In 2017, a total of 555 entries came from 10 high schools, 14 middle schools, eight elementary schools, and three private instructors. Out of those, 175 were accepted into the exhibit: 50 elementary entries, 55 middle school entries, and 70 high school entries. Twenty-seven of those pieces were recognized for outstanding work.
