Variety Marks Spring Organ Festival
It's called the 2018 Spring Festival, but the more fitting event name is "Silent Movies and More!"
Check out the three-day celebration of organ music May 31 through June 2 in Kilgore. The ever-qualified host is the East Texas Pipe Organ Festival organization.
Admission is free for all events unless listed otherwise below. All events are held at First Presbyterian Church, 815 East Main Street, Kilgore, unless otherwise noted.
Thursday, May 31
10 a.m. — Ken Cowan in concert.
3 p.m. — “Roy Perry: An American Classic.” An inside view of the organs he designed, presented by David Brown, photographer. Texas Museum of Broadcasting and Communications, 416 East Main Street, Kilgore. $5 admission.
8 p.m. — Silent Movie: Steamboat Bill, Jr., starring Buster Keaton. Accompaniment by Clark Wilson, organist. Free admission.
Friday, June 1
10 a.m. — Grant Wareham in concert.
3 p.m. — “An American Classic: Classic Comments and Classic Cocktails, featuring the William Teague Residence Organ.” Rachel and Jerry Fuller, readers. Lorenz Maycher, organist. East Texas Pipe Organ Festival headquarters, 115 South Kilgore Street, Kilgore. $35 admission.
8 p.m. — Silent Movie: Safety Last, starring Harold Lloyd. Accompaniment by Clark Wilson, organist. Free admission.
Saturday, June 2
10 a.m. — Katie Minion in concert. Free admission.
3 p.m. — "One Life, Three Books, and Two Manuals," featuring Larry Palmer, organist and speaker. Cocktails and snacks provided. East Texas Pipe Organ Festival headquarters. $35 admission.
8 p.m. — Silent Movie: The Cameraman, starring Buster Keaton. Accompaniment by Clark Wilson, organist. Free admission.
