Big Pines Blues Society Presents Youth Showcase Finals
The Big Pines Blues Society announced the names of five Junior Showcase finalists for the 2019 youth blues guitar competition. The young guitar slingers will face off in head-to-head competition to determine a winner beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11, on the Heritage Plaza stage, 219 E Methvin Street, Longview.
Junior Showcase contestants along with their hometowns are: Ethan Rivers, Athens; Cody Lattis, Brownsboro; Brady Bowman, LaRue; Grant McInnis, Bullard, and Ben Smiley Natchitoches, LA.
The aspiring performers each have a maximum stage time of five minutes, during which their performances are rated by a panel of professional musicians.
The winner receives an electric guitar, courtesy of Junior Showcase sponsor Custom Build Guitars/Thin The Herd Guitars, Austin.
The Junior Showcase includes a performance by special guest Dylan James Shaw, an 11 year old blues piano player and composer from Highland Village. Dylan earned top honors in both the Texas and the National 2017 PTA Reflections Contests for his blues piano original composition.
Admission is free and open to the public.
