Curl Up and Dye... for Steel Magnolias




The most highly anticipated play of the Cherokee Civic Theatre’s 2017-2018 season comes to the Main Stage of the historic Cherokee Theater in Rusk.

“Steel Magnolias,” the heartwarming, poignant comedy-drama about the bond of six women in a small southern community comes to life onstage October 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15. The play, directed by Bill Sherman and produced by Judy Faye Garner, is a story of friendship, family squabbles, some eccentricities, and facing reality.

Emilee Caldwell, Josie Fox, Amy McCalister, Catherine Gaertner, Sasha Cruz and Monica Kelley portray the witty, gossiping ladies who meet at Truvy’s Beauty Salon.

The movie Steel Magnolias won the 1990 People’s Choice Awards, and Julia Roberts won a Golden Globe Award for best supporting actress. Much of the filming occurred in nearby Natchitoches, LA.

“Steel Magnolias” comes to the stage at Cherokee Civic Theatre, West 5th Street in Rusk. Performances Fridays and Saturdays are at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Advance tickets are $10 students and $13 adults. At-the-door tickets are $15 each. CCT Memberships are also available and, in addition to their season passes, CCT Members may purchase additional tickets for the discount rates of $7 students, $10 adults.  Discounts for groups are available.
