From Chicago, The Way Down Wanderers return to Winnsboro and The Bowery Stage for a concert on Saturday evening, October 27. Mostly unknown at the time of their first visit in 2017, the Wanderers soon had the crowd in their grasp and kept them there until they left the stage and wandered through the audience for a rousing encore.
Equal parts fast-paced and soulful, five-piece modern-folk Americana act, The Way Down Wanderers, draw listeners in with energy, originality and soulful generosity. Youthful and professionally trained, these young men captivate audiences with soaring instrumentals, foot stomping sing-alongs and a lively stage show and have created a buzz for themselves with their unplugged, off-stage encores and propensity for performing self-titled "restSTOMPS" ̶ free acoustic sets at rest and truck stops along their tour routes.
Music enthusiasts are not the only ones taking note. Critics and tastemakers alike have awarded the young artists an impressive number of accolades ranging from official showcases at Folk Alliance International Montreal (2019), AmericanaFest (2018) and International Bluegrass Music Association (2016) to Whitstable UK Session of the Year (2017), and a BBC Scotland Session (2017), as well as Finalist, International Song Writing Competition (2015 and 2016).
Tickets for this concert are $24 and $34 and can be purchased at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts, (903) 342-0686 and online. See the ticket link at www.winnsborocenterforthearts.com.
