No Cheap Kind of Solace

When the light begins to shine a little brighter

and hope fills the holes in so many lives

maybe then we’ll realize we weren’t forgotten

though we may have felt that way at times

When the curse that has crisscrossed the world

finally travels its last cruel mile

maybe then we’ll be granted the wisdom

that turns life’s curves into a straighter line

But I offer no cheap kind of solace

six feet apart or otherwise

‘cause your sorrow may be six feet deep

and need a touch much higher than mine

When we can all gather in a garden

where roses aren’t torn by a storm

maybe then we’ll again feel the love

that’s followed us since we were born

But I offer no cheap kind of solace

six feet apart or otherwise

‘cause your sorrow may be six feet deep

and need a touch much higher than mine
