Jacksonville’s 37th Tomato Fest is back this year — red, ripe, and full of fun. The festival celebrating all things tomatoes kicks off June 5 and culminates in a full day of activities June 12.

The full week of celebration in downtown Jacksonville, Texas, and the surrounding area features concerts, farm to table dinners, a fishing tournament, fun runs, a pageant, and more.

Here are events happening in the second week in June when Jacksonville becomes “Tomatoville.”

Saturday, June 5 — The Tomato Fest 5K and Fun Run takes place 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, June 5. Location: CrossFit Truth, 2112 East Rusk Street, Jacksonville.

Sunday, June 6 — City-Wide Church Singing at the First United Methodist Church, 6 p.m., 1031 Southwest Loop 456.

Monday, June 7 — 6th Annual Dodgeball Tournament, 6 p.m., John Alexander Gym. Hosted by Family First Clinic & Urgent Care. Contact Katie Royon (903) 284-6105.

Tuesday, June 8 — "DICED" cooking competition between the Lions and Kiwanis Doors open at 5:30 p.m., competition begins at 6 p.m. at the Kiepersol Salt Room. Reservations required.

Thursday, June 10 — Tomato Fest Farm to Table Dinner, 7 p.m. at Castle on the Lake at Lake Jacksonville.

Saturday, June 12  — 37th Annual Tomato Fest, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Commerce Street, Downtown Jacksonville, Texas.

Five blocks of Vendors, Food, Farmer's Market, Fried Green Tomatoes, Tomato Eating Contest (celebrity and kids), Tomato Peeling Contest (peel a tomato with your teeth), Tomato Packing Contest, Salsa Contest, Best Homegrown Contest, Live Entertainment, Talent Show, Car Show, Motorcycle Show, Soccer Tournament, Tennis Tournament, History Display, Top Tomato Poster Contest and much more.

Saturday, June 12 — Chili's Grill & Bar 15th Annual Street Dance from 7 to 11 p.m. featuring Kimberly Dunn, Red Dirt Ritas, Blake Evans, Patrick Asher, and more.
